Swancara Apprehended in Montana in Connection to Washington Stabbing

A 24-year-old, wanted in connection with the stabbing death of his mother in Washington, apprehended in Montana Monday.

Matthew Swancara was arrested without incident Monday afternoon in Kalispell.

The Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence call at an Elk home Sunday evening and discovered 57-year-old Sally Swancara dead from apparent stab wounds.

According to authorities, Matthew Swancara fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Montana authorities were notified because Swancara reportedly has ties to the state.

A man allegedly encountered Swancara as he was hitchhiking and called law enforcement
