From l-r, Dorothy Jones (Customer Support Services Officer for Shropshire Council) Mrs Orpe (resident) and Sue Lunn (Resident Liaison Officer for Keepmoat).
A project to install new kitchens and bathrooms in homes across Shropshire has reached its first milestone, with 100 properties now completed.
The improvements are being carried out by housing and regeneration company Keepmoat, on behalf of Shropshire Council, which owns and manages the homes.
To mark the occasion, staff from both organisations presented tenant Madge Orpe, whose home was the 100th to be completed, with a bouquet of flowers.
Mrs Orpe, a Council Tenant in Claverley, said: ?We are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen, I can?t tell you what a difference it has made.
?It?s lovely and modern, it?s almost like having a new house ? I can?t wait to start using it.?
The kitchen and bathroom replacement project started in July and by next summer a total of 336 homes are due to be completed.
Steve Jones, Shropshire Council?s Procurement and Contracts Officer, said: ?We are delighted with Keepmoat?s performance and look forward to a long and successful partnership.
?Our Tenants are benefiting from the contractors experience and expertise when delivering large scale improvement works in occupied homes.?
National housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat has carried out similar improvements to thousands of properties across the UK.
Contracts manager John Boyle said: ?We were delighted to join forces with our partners at Shropshire Council to present Mrs Orpe with her flowers and mark this major milestone in the project.
?Seeing the difference the new kitchens and bathrooms make to tenants is fantastic and we are looking forward to ensuring the remaining work is carried out to the same high standard and quality.?
