Allied Waste and Union Reported to Meet on Monday, Teamsters Extend Picket Line

Observers are optimistic that progress is being made between union workers and Allied Waste / Republic Services in Evansville, Indiana. ?
After being locked out by management for nearly a month, a meeting is scheduled between the two sides on Monday. ?Followers are hopeful that this could break the stalemate between the groups. ?
In the meantime, workers extended their picket line to Richmond, California. ?Approximately 180 workers at the Republic Services facility in California refused to cross a picket line in support of the Evansville employees. ?
The strike impacts 79 workers in Evansville. ?
At issue is a plan to replace the current pension plan with a 401(k) plan. As part of the plan, Allied Waste pledged to make a contribution of $1.4 million into the 401(k) plan.
